In the first phase of the plenary for the Cyprus issue, both the Secretary General and the five leaders developed their positions extensively. The first part of the conference lasted around two hours. A dinner followed, and then the meeting continued shortly after 23:35 in the evening.
In his statements, Guterres said significant progress was made in four of the six points, saying he was close to an agreement on the issue of crossing points as the liberal reported.

In the context of the informal five -member conference on the Cyprus issue, under the auspices of UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres, which is being held in New York, the heads of the European Union institutions clearly expressed their support for international efforts to re -operate.
Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of a fair and sustainable solution on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions and EU authorities.
European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Layen, with their posts on X platform, said that “the EU remains consistently committed to the reunification of Cyprus, according to the UN Security Council and the UN Security Council.
