The Brazilian will be one of those responsible for electing the winners of the Golden Lion, the Silver Lion, the Jury Grand Prix, the awards for best actor, actress and script, as well as the Marcello Mastroianni Award
The Brazilian actress was announced on Friday (18), as one of the members of the jury of the 82nd edition of the Venice Festival, one of the most important awards in the world of cinema. In addition to her, other important industry figures are also part of the Commission – Iranian author Mohammad Rasoulof, French director and screenwriter Stéphane Brizé, Italian director and screenwriter Maura Delpero, director, writer and producer Romanian Cristian Mungiu and Chinese actress Zhao Tao.
The new edition of the festival, which takes place between August 27 and September 6, will be chaired by US director and screenwriter Alexander Payne, who has won the Oscar for best script adapted on two occasions-“Sideways-between one and others” in 2004 and “The Descendants” in 2011.
Last year, the national feature “I’m still here” won the festival’s best script award. The Brazilian victory, which had not occurred at the festival since 1981 when “they do not use Black-tie” was awarded, marked the beginning of the campaign that led Brazil to its first Oscar.
The official list of films that will compete at the festival will be released on July 22. Alongside the other jury members, Fernanda Torres will be responsible for electing the Golden Lion winners, the Silver Lion, the Jury Grand Prix, the Best Actor, Actress and Screenplay Awards, as well as the Marcello Mastroianni Award.
