When speaking at an event of the transnordestine railroad, the petista said that if he is in the health and willingness of today, he will be a candidate again
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) said on Friday (18.Jul.2025) that he will only decide on running a 4th term in 2026. In an event about the transnordestine railway in Ceará, the petista said he will “talk” with his “consciousness” until next year and that, if healthy, he will present.
“I will only decide to be a candidate, if I go, next year because I have to talk to my conscience and talk to you”these.

Despite the cautious speech about a possible candidacy for reelection, it is given to be certain by the government and allies that Lula will compete next year.
In this Friday’s speech, he stated that people do not have to worry that if he is in health and willingness, he will be a candidate to prevent former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) allies, whom he called the “bunch of crazy”, return to power.
“Don’t worry. I’m going to be 80 years old, if I have the health I am today, with the disposition that I am today, you can be sure that I will be a candidate again to win the elections in this country. You can be sure, I will be a candidate to win the elections in this country. Because I will not deliver this country back to that crazy band that almost destroys this country in recent years.
Transnordestine railway
President Lula announced on Friday the release of funds from investment funds to the transnordestine railway in the region of Mission Velha, Ceará.
Currently, 280 km of infrastructure works are running, generating more than 4,000 direct jobs and involving more than $ 4 billion in signed contracts.
Paralyzed since 2017, the works returned in 2020, but only in 2023 that the federal government led a movement to restructure the financing. The total investment made has about R $ 8.2 billion.
