The director of the International House of Arts for Children Bibiana Petr Flach violated the law and the right to access information. On Friday’s press briefing, this was reported to the decision of the District Office Bratislava by MEPs for Progressive Slovakia (PS) Dana Cleinert and Michael Sabo. In this context, they also called on the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic Martina Šimkovičová (CIS nominee) to dismiss the flach from office.

Kleinert specified that the violation of the Law on Free Access to information concerned her questions about the emergence of a new marketing department and a strategy in Bibiana. “There was a suspicion of conflict of interest“Kleinert said. The management of Bibiana, in her words, not only provided the required information, but did not make a decision in the matter.

Therefore, the procedure Kleinert also challenged through the initiative to the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Slovak Republic. “She gave us the truth when she assessed the Bibiana action as not corresponding to the legal standards of access to information,” Kleinert said. She added, as part of the subsequent action and offense proceedings of the district office, both parties heard. “A few days ago we received a decision of the District Office and it sounds clear that Mrs. Flach and the HR staff are guilty of a violation of the free access of information to information”Added a member of the Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for Culture and Media.

Her parliamentary colleague Sabo also arrived at the justification of the proceedings, when the director of Bibiana referred to the ignorance of the law. “With the statutory, such ignorance is not an excuse, but a failure. Moreover, it is in a sharp contradiction with the statements of the Minister of Culture on the occupation of leading positions by experts,“He stressed.

PS representatives also criticized the current management of Bibiana for the situation in which the institution found itself after a year of operation of new management. According to them, it is characterized by a poor and non -innovative program, the absence of cooperation with relevant authors or ineffectively used means. “In every normal country, the Minister would dismiss the director of the internationally respected institution for such an annual performance. We also recommend this to the Minister,” Kleinert stressed.
