His German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier received Romanian President Nicušor Dan on Friday in Berlin and during his visit he also met with German office Friedrich Merz. Dan said Romania wants to further expand the partnership with Germany in the coming years, TASR reports, according to the Agerpres report.
“Germany is the largest business partner of Romania and we want to develop this cooperation in the coming years,” Dan said after meeting Merz.
The German office evaluated the meeting positively and said they had a very good discussion “based on trust” together. He highlighted the mutual relations between countries and noted that Berlin and Bucharest are important partners in the NATO security policy and have the same view of the Russian offensive in Ukraine.

Romanian President was also supposed to meet German entrepreneurs or representatives of the Romanian community in the country during the official visit to Germany. Agerpres recalls that more than 900,000 Romanians live in Germany, making this community the largest European minority in the country.
Dan elected the Romanian President in the second round of the presidential election 18 May.
