Russia "deliberately" attacks the factory of a NATO ally on Ukrainian soil

Russia has bombarded Ukraine with persistent attacks with missiles and unmanned aircraft, which have intensified in recent weeks as the fire negotiations mediated by the United States has produced few advances.

Moscow has occasionally attacked facilities in Ukraine owned by companies based in NATO Member States and now it has been known that the Kremlin has hit a site used by the American defense giant Boeing in kyiv. It was last month, the newspaper has reported. The Swedish SKF bear company already declared in August 2023 that one of its factories had been reached by a Russian missile. Three people died at the Lutsk plant, in the northwest of Ukraine, according to the firm at that time. The Russian authorities described the plant as a “legitimate military objective.” Now the same position is expected.

Moscow launched, specifically, several drones against a floors in the Central Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia, operated by the Barlinek group, based in the Polish city of Kielce, said Polish Foreign Minister, Radosław Sikorski, in its social networks. The factory was the “objective” of an attack with Russian unmanned aircraft and that the “losses are significant.”

“At the moment, we do not foresee that production can be resumed before six months,” Barlinek told adding that it would not provide more information for security reasons. “The plant manager told me a moment ago that was deliberate,” Sikorski said.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported the early hours of Wednesday, local time, that eight people were hospitalized after Russian drones attacks against two civil industrial facilities and four residential buildings in Vinnytsia. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) caused large -scale fires, according to the Ukrainian authorities.

Two people suffered serious burns, Sikorski said. A local Vinnytsia official indicated that five people suffered burns in the region, three of them classified as serious.

Sikorski, in statements to the media along with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, said the attacks came from “three directions.” Sybiha said that the attack on the factory was “another brutal attack” by Russia.

Referring to the Russian president, the Polish diplomat added: “Putin’s criminal war is approaching our borders.”

An Incordio

Russian attacks against critical infrastructures of Ukraine, near the border with Poland and Romania, NATO Member States, have often forced the alliance to deploy combat airplanes, in case the attacks extended to NATO territory. The Bucharest Ministry of Defense declared Wednesday that Russian attacks, until dawn, against port infrastructures near the border with Romania, led the country to alert their combat planes, although the planes did not take off.

The president of Ukraine, said that Russia had attacked Vinnytsia, as well as parts of the south, center and northeast of Ukraine, with the “tougher” attacks during the night, focusing on energy infrastructure.

Zelenski indicated that 15 people were injured and that officials were working so that the electricity supply in the central city of Kryvyi Rih works “as best as possible.”
