The Governor (Republicans) was called the future president by allies during an event with election campaign in Embu das Artes, on Thursday (17), for the delivery of housing units, and has not denied or confirmed whether to try the Presidency of the Republic by 2026.
“The voice of the people is the voice of God, and Tarcisio will be our President of the Republic,” said the former mayor of the city Ney Santos (Republicans), as he raised the hand of Tarcisio up.
The governor heard the comments in silence and smiling. Tarcisio made no comment about the speeches in his speech to the public, which lasted 20 minutes, and left the place without speaking to the press.
“I know you don’t like to talk about it, but I want to tell you that the state is small to you. As I sent you in a message these days, who needs you now is the Brazilian people,” said Ney Santos.
“You have shown to the people of São Paulo how to do quality public policy, you showed how a governor needs to work during these years and now I’m sure God is preparing this moment for you, because the Brazilian people need,” continued the former mayor.
Before him, the current mayor of Embu das Artes, Hugo Prado (Republicans), also referred to Tarcisio as presidential in 2026. “The will of the Embuense and the Brazilian People is that we have a really dialogue president, a president who makes a difference,” said Prado.
The statements occur amid clashes between Tarcisio and Bolsonarism because of Trump’s tariff, especially with federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (-SP), who tries to enable himself as presidential for 2026 since his father (PL) is ineligible and investigated by the coup plot in the (Supreme Court).
Tarcisio is seen by allies and party leaders as the main name of the right to face the president (PT) in next year’s elections.
According to, the two draw technically in a possible second round, being the governor of São Paulo who performs the best performance against the petista.
At the event, Tarcísio greeted the gifts, embraced the beneficiaries of the deliveries and posed for photos, delaying his rise to the main stage in half an hour. Publicly, he has stated that he will be a candidate for reelection in the state.
Tarcísio was accompanied by the mayor of the capital, (), who also circulated as a candidate at the event – but to the São Paulo government.
Although he did not speak, the mayor of São Paulo was invited by the master of ceremonies to deliver the key to one of the families who will live in place.
Nunes did not explain why he went to a delivery in another city. Rosalvo Salgueiro, leader of the housing movement “Land of God, land of all,” said it was the one who invited Nunes.
State Representative Eduardo Nóbrega (Somos), when speaking, said “Tarcisist” and treated both the governor and Nunes as candidates. “I’m happy, because I will have a friend in the state government and a friend in the presidency of the Republic,” said Nobrega.
Representative with a strong electoral base in the Embu region, Nobrega made nunes more numbered than to the city’s own mayor. “To talk about Tarcísio de Freitas and Ricardo Nunes, I would stay here all day,” said the parliamentarian.
