Negotiation ensures severance pay and benefit maintenance for 6 months to employees of Santa Elisa Plant in Sertãozinho (SP)
The Union of Workers in the Sugar, Food and Related Industries of Sertãozinho and Region has signed an agreement with to secure rights to the 2,000 dismissed employees of the Santa Elisa Plant. The understanding was signed on Wednesday (16.Jul.2025), 1 day after the company announced the suspension indefinite of the unit’s activities in Sertãozinho (SP).
According to information from the negotiation resulted in the definition of payment of severance pay and allowances, as well as temporary maintenance of benefits for workers.
Raízen sold almost 4 million tons of sugarcane for approximately R $ 1 billion. The value will be used to reduce company debts.
The closure of the plant impacts workers from 4 municipalities: Sertãozinho, Pontal, Barrinha and Pitangueiras. The union represents about 60% of the total people affected by the decision.
The negotiated benefits include the extent of the health and dental plan for 5 months after the dismissal, at no costs for holders and dependents. The agreement also proposes the maintenance of group life insurance for the same period.
