The Justice Department of the Justice requested several sheriff departments in California, including those of E, the list of all detainees in their prisons that are not US citizens. Among the information requested, the government of the President wants the crimes by which immigrants were arrested or convicted and scheduled release dates. The department, headed by Attorney General Pam Bondi, said in a statement that today’s data requests aim to help immigration authorities “prioritize” the deportation of illegal immigrants who have committed crimes after irregularly entering the US.

“Although every illegal immigrant, by definition, violates federal law, those who commit crimes later show that they pose a higher risk to national security,” said the folder. Bondi said he expects to “cooperate” with the sheriffs of California counties to meet the shared responsibility to maintain security. The request adds to the Trump government’s battle against Californian immigrant protection policies, facing them with budget cuts and migratory operations that have hit the Los Angeles Metropolitan Region since June 6.

The White House has sustained on several occasions that efforts are directed to arrest immigrants with criminal record. However, data from the Immigration and Customs Control Service (ICE) show that 68% of the 2,031 people detained from June 1 to 26 in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Region had no criminal record and 57% had never been accused of any crime.
