Again death penalty?: “Bumm Tschak” by Ferdinand Schmalz in Bregenz

Austria’s last Henker, who carried out a total of 39 death sentences between 1900 and 1918, was called Josef Lang and achieved celebrity through a photo on which he proudly presented a death. Postcards of this picture went around the world. Josef Lang is now (more not) for the central figure in Ferdinand Schmalz ‘new piece Bumm Tschak or the last handle. A classroomwhich celebrated its premiere at the Bregenz Festival on Friday as a co -production with the Burgtheater.
