The president of and Congress, Senator (Union-AP), announced on Friday (18) that the parliamentary recess is maintained until August 4.
The announcement frustrates Bolsonarist parliamentarians, who call for the resumption of work to deal with possible reactions to the decision of the minister, (Supreme Federal Court), against the former president () and impose on him the use of an electronic anklet.
Congress interrupted the work this week, in what is called white recess.
“The president of the Federal Senate and the National Congress, Senator Davi Alcolumbre, reiterates that the July parliamentary recess is maintained, as widely and previously announced. During the next two weeks, there will be no deliberative sessions or commissions functioning,” says Alcolumbre statement.
“Legislative activities will be resumed in the week of August 4, with deliberative sessions in the Senate Plenary and the Committees, including the beginning of the appreciation and voting of nominations of authorities, according to the schedule already disclosed.”
The opposition leaders in Congress released joint note in which they classified the decision of Moraes as.
The note is signed by the opposition leaders in the Senate, Rogério Marinho (PL-RN), in the House, Zucco (PL-RS), Congress, Izalci Lucas (PL-DF), as well as Senator Carlos Portinho (RJ) and PL leaders Cavalcante (RJ), PL leaders in their respective houses.
The text calls for parliament against the performance of Moraes. “The National Congress needs to resume its constitutional role. It is the duty of the legislature to act independently and responsibility to contain the excesses of power that increasingly goes beyond the limits of legality and reasonableness,” says the text, which also speaks of streets mobilization.
“It is time for Brazilian society to position themselves with courage. People must return to the streets, peacefully and orderly, to demand respect for the constitution, freedom and democracy. No toga is above the law.”
