Capybara is rescued from helicopter after falling from cliff to SC

A capybara was rescued by helicopter after being trapped in a hard-to-reach cliff in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, last Thursday (17).

A person who made the cave trail on the south of the island called the authorities after identifying the vulnerable animal.

The capybara was stuck in the cliff between the beaches of Southern Swamp and Lagoinha do Leste. The rescue was made by the Environmental Military Police (CPMA).

The agents traveled a trail banned to the public for about an hour until they locate the debilitated capybara, exhausted and exposed to the risk of falling in a 50 -meter high coast.

For rescue, techniques with strings were used, the animal was immobilized and erected with the support of the police. The PMSC Aviation Battalion Eagle aircraft, transported the capybara safely to the southern swamp.

The capybara was taken to the center of screening and rehabilitation of wild animals (cetas). On site, the animal receives the necessary care for recovery.
