1st Panel of the Court already has a majority to endorse the precautionary measures against the former president imposed by Moraes; Luiz Fux has not yet voted
Minister Cármen Lúcia, of the Supreme Court (STF), gave this Friday (18.Jul.2025) the 4th vote to validate the decision of Minister Alexandre de Moraes determining precautionary measures against the former president (PL), among them.
The PF (Federal Police) did a search and seizure operation against Bolsonaro at the command of Moraes. After compliance with the measures, the minister’s decision was taken to referendum in virtual vote of the 1st Panel of the Court.
To date, the score is 4 votes to 0 to maintain the precautionary. In addition to Moraes, the ministers Flávio Dino, Cristiano Zanin e Cármen Lúcia were favorable.
For the minister, the indications pointed out against Bolsonaro justify the measures.
“The need to maintain precautionary measures decreed in the decision that proposes to endorse is evidenced by the numerous posts attached to the process, which contains evidence of efforts developed by Eduardo Nantes Bolsonaro and Jair Messias Bolsonaro to interfere with the regular process of criminal action 2.688 [trama golpista]in which Jair Bolsonaro is a defendant ”says the minister.
The vote will be open until next Monday (21.Jul). The vote of Minister Luiz Fux is missing.
The precautionary measures were determined in the inquiry in which the son of the former president, the licensed deputy (PL-SP), is investigated for his performance with the government of the president of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican Party), to promote retaliation measures against the Brazilian government and ministers of the Supreme and try to bar the progress of criminal action on the attempted coup d’état in 2022.
In March this year, Eduardo asked for his mandate license and went to live in the United States on the grounds of political persecution. The license ends on Sunday (20.Jul).
