João Pedro Nascimento says he anticipated the end of his term, scheduled for July 2027, to devote himself to family and academic life
A (Securities Commission) announced on Friday (18.Jul.2025) that President João Pedro Nascimento resigned after 3 years ahead of the municipality.
According to the the departure of birth, which would be in office until July 2027, was for personal reasons.
“The CVM thanks João Pedro Nascimento for the period he was in charge of the municipality and wants success in his future projects ”reported the agency about the president, who began his term on July 18, 2022.
It will now be up to the Presidency of the Republic to appoint a new president for the CVM. Otto Lobo, the oldest director of the municipality, will respond interimly for the functions of the president.
Nascimento said in that, in the 3 years of its management, “We opened the doors so that more Brazilians could participate in the fruits of the growth of open companies, funds and other investment vehicles. In addition, we demonstrate how more entrepreneurs can find in the capital market a viable and efficient financing alternative. ”
In an interview with the newspaper Nascimento said he intends to make room for academic life and devote himself to the family. “It’s time for me to be a teacher again, to be a father again. I always said I’m president, but I’m a teacher. I’ll be very old, that’s what gives me pleasure”He said. Nascimento, who is also a lawyer, said he intends to return to the profession after fulfilling the compulsory quarantine.
Linked to the CVM is the Brazilian government’s municipality responsible for regulating, normalizing, overseeing and developing the securities market in Brazil, such as shares, debentures and investment funds. Its performance aims to ensure transparency, protect investors and ensure the proper functioning of the capital market.
In the balance sheet on birth management, the municipality said that since July 2022, 70 new resolutions have been edited. Only in 2024, 30 were published, with the objective of “simplify and develop the capital market, 9 accounting standards and two joint standards with the Central Bank”.
According to the CVM, the action plan of the last mandate was structured on 3 fronts: executive, regulatory and developmentalist, each with initiatives to increase the efficiency of the municipality’s performance.
