The Ministry of Finance said on Saturday that the government of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is not considering dividend controls as retaliation against the United States, even though negotiations to reverse a 50% rate on Brazilian products announced by US President Donald Trump’s administration do not advance.
“Finance Minister Fernando Haddad denies that the Brazilian government is evaluating the adoption of more rigorous measures of control over dividends as a form of retaliation for the United States adopted and reaffirms that this possibility is not into consideration,” the ministry said in a statement.
Haddad’s negative to the possibility of adopting dividend control measures was initially released by Broadcast.
