Iran tried to kill politician in Madrid in a “warning to Europe”

ALEJO VIDAL-QUADRAS

Spanish justice concluded that Iran tried to kill the politician Alejo Vidal-Quadras in 2023 in Madrid as a warning to the European Union (EU).

Spain prepares to judge eight people for, in 2023, try KILL ALEJO VIDAL-QUADRASa former Popular Party leader and founder of Vox on behalf of the Iranian regime and as a warning to Spain and Europe.

The bombing took place on November 9, 2023, on a street in Madrid, and intended to be a “revenge on his political activity in favor of Iranian resistance, as well as to warn the Government of Spain and the European Union that it should not host the movements of this resistance, which the Iranian regime qualifies as terrorists”, reads in an order from the national audience judge, the most serious crimes.

In the document, dated July 9, to which Lusa had access, the judge sues eight people, from various nationalities, accused of crimes of belonging to the criminal association and attempted terrorist murder.

Allejo Vidal-Quadras, now 80, was by a man who abandoned the site on a motorcycle driven by someone else and was detained in the Netherlands, months later.

Initially, the suspect had fled to Portugalaccording to the conclusions of the judicial investigation contained in the judge’s order.

The Spanish justice resembles the political path of Vidal-Qadras, former director of the Spain Popular Party (PP), especially the period in which he was MEP and vice president of the European Parliament (from 1999 to 2014), marked by support for Iranian opposition and activism in defense of various movements of resistance to the Tehran regimelike the ‘Mujahidines’ organization of the people (Mek).

An activity that, as the Judge of the National Hearing of Spain emphasized, led to the known as “The Mek Man in Brussels”.

The target was therefore well defined

In the judicial order to which Lusa had access, Spanish justice says that the attack on Vidal-Quadras was commissioned directly to the eight accused of realizing it by people whose identity could not determine during the investigation. But there is no doubt about the goals, which went through end the life of “a personality of reference at the European level of opposition to the Iranian regime”.

Days after the attack, on November 14, 2023, came “a warning” directly to the Spanish government and other European countries by the Iran regime, the order, which cites a text from the Iranian semi -official news agency Fars on “Serious consequences” to Spain from supporting resistance and Iranian opponents.

The judge also states that Iran has been involved in “covered operations” to “Pursue, intimidate and even murder opponents, dissidents and critical voices” in several European countriesthere are open investigations in the Netherlands, Denmark or the United Kingdom.

Some of the eight prosecutors, which the Spain’s national hearing judge sends for trial, have criminal records and/or are being investigated for other crimes in other countries, according to the same order.

The judgment of the eight accused has no date to begin and their realization still depends on some judicial proceedings in Spain.

Allejo Vidal-Quadras, who got the physical sequelae of the attack, always accused the Iranian regime of being behind the attack.
