Current Brazilian President referred to Jair Bolsonaro
Brazilian president, Lula da Silva, said on Friday that if he is well in health, he will be a candidate for presidential elections of 2026 to not “surrender this country back to that gang of freaks.”
“If I have my health that I am today, with the disposition that I am today, you can be sure that I will be a candidate again to win next year’s elections, because I will not deliver this country back to that band of crazy people, which almost destroy this country in recent years,” said the Brazilian head of state, in an event in the state of Ceará.
Lula da Silva alluded to former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, according to which, with his son Eduardo Bolsonaro, acted with the United States government to impose sanctions on “public agents of the Brazilian State” and force the court to file the trial in which he is accused of attempted coup.
Still, Lula da Silva assumed that he will only make this decision next year.
“Because I have to talk to my conscience and talk to you,” he said.
These statements take place a few hours after, by decision of the Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes, the police have searched and seizures at households linked to Bolsonaro, as there is evidence that the former president and one of his children acted to disrupt the trial of the criminal action in which he is accused of attempted coup.
Moraes, a judge rapporteur of this case in the Supreme Court, agreed with the findings of the Federal Police and considered that, in view of his conduct, the former president and his son are the authors of “clear and express acts of execution and blatant confessions of criminal acts” who persist over time.
The same judge considered that “national sovereignty [brasileira] It cannot, should not and will never be vilified, negotiated or extorted “and indicated that the former president confessed to an attempted extortion against Brazilian justice by conditioning the end of the tariffs imposed by the President of the United States, Donald Trump, to his own amnesty.
Among the measures adopted by court order against Jair Bolsonaro are the use of electronic bracelets, prohibition of using social networks and communicating with son Eduardo Bolsonaro.
The former president should stay at home at night, from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am, and on weekends, and will not be able to communicate with foreign ambassadors and diplomats or approach embassies.
Last week, Trump announced a 50% rate on all Brazilian exports to the United States claiming, in a letter published on social networks, that Bolsonaro suffered a “witch hunt.”
Trump accused Brazil for “the way former President Bolsonaro has been dealing, with a lawsuit in the Supreme Court for alleged attempted coup after losing the 2022 elections for the current head of state, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
