Contrary to appearance, potatoes are not a worthless filler. They contain many vitamins and are one of the better sources of carbohydrates. Their impact on our health and well -being largely depends on what we connect them with.
Potatoes, although they are shrouded in bad fame, are a mine of nutritional values as well as vitamins and minerals. They contain vitamins vitamin C, A, B vitamins. This means that their food supports immunity, inhibits the aging process and supports the nervous system. Magnesium or phosphorus and potassium in potatoes support the circulatory system and help reduce blood pressure. In turn, zinc accelerates wound healing, it also affects our taste and smell.
It is also time to overthrow the myth that the vegetable was fattening. Potatoes are not only healthy, but also low -caloriethey have only 77 kcal per 100g. They are also a valuable source of fiber, which has a positive effect on the digestive system and provides satiety. That is why this vegetable is recommended for people on a diet, but in the right company. In themselves, potatoes are healthy and non -cutting, but a lot depends on what you eat them and in what form.
When preparing a meal, you need to consider not only its taste and caloric content, but also how its individual ingredients will work. Carbohydrates contained in potatoes have the form of starch, which in combination with fatty dishes can ferment in the digestive tract. This can cause bloating, heartburn and constipation. This is the reason why we sometimes feel sluggish after a gray dinner.
Potatoes cannot therefore be combined not only with greasy sauces and meat, but even with butter. In Polish cuisine, unfortunately, we love young potatoes with butter and dill or add fat to puree. Thanks to this, the dishes acquire delicacy in taste, but they become more heavy. Their caloric content and glycemic index are also growing.
The ideal combination for potatoes is lean protein in the form of chicken or fish, preferably prepared by steaming. Baked vegetables or salads will also be a good addition. Broccoli, carrots, green beans, cauliflower, spinach, rocket, lettuce and kale go well with potatoes. Instead of greasy, suspended sauces, eat potatoes with sauces based on yogurt.
Many people cannot imagine life without fries, which are a very unhealthy form of eating potatoes. However, there is a way out: do not fry the fries in deep oil, put on those from the oven. Earlier, soak the potato bars for half an hour in water to get rid of excess starch from them. Together with them, bake fries from other vegetables and serve as an addition to eggs, lean meat or fish. It is worth remembering that the healthiest way to prepare potatoes is their baking or cooking in uniforms. Thanks to this, they do not lose their health properties.
