From July 23 to 27, the summer in Lagos returns to celebrate with flavor, tradition and culture with another edition of the Fair Contest Arte Doce, announces the municipality of Lagos. The initiative, which takes place at the Lagos Sports Complex, will feature free admission and an eclectic program for the whole family, combining the algarve sweets with live music, showcooking, handicrafts, children’s animation, tasquinhas and exhibitions.
“The 2025 edition has as its theme ‘Meeting of Cultures for Peace’ and brings to Beira as a guest region, in a celebration that promotes diversity and encounter between traditions,” says the municipality of Lagos.
Visitors will be able to delight in the most iconic sweets of the Algarve, watch gastronomic demonstrations and enjoy daily concerts distributed by various stages.
“Music is again one of the great attractions, with five nights of free concerts on the Lagos stage,” says the municipality. Maninho will start the poster on the 23rd, followed by four thirty (24th), Barbara Tinoco (day 25), Ivandro (26) and Sara Correia (27). Already the Arte Doce stage will give visibility to local and regional talents such as Xico Barata & Company, Benvindo Barros, Basas Doirada, Quintarolas (representing the interior Beira), Gil Rock School, Cecilia Pissarro, Nicole Silver Band, Teresa Tapadas and Antoni.
Space + Sweet will provide a more intimate atmosphere, with performances by James Buck, Gigi Violist, Paulo Ribeiro, Júlio Silva and the Algarve Jazz Orchestra.
“The Municipal Pavilion will be a must for the most curious of the kitchen,” adds the municipality. ADRA – Association of Regional Sweets of the Algarve will streamline sessions dedicated to Dom Rodrigo and Sweet Fino, the latter aimed especially at children between 7 and 12 years.
The international component will also be present with Ukrainian gastronomy sessions (Chef Andriy Prysyaznhyuk – Oraanta), Italian (chef Maria Francesca Diogardi – Lake Study Center) and Beira Interior flavors, presented by chefs Raquel and Rui Ramos. The prizes of the contention will be delivered on the 27th.
Families with children will be able to count on the ‘sweet or crossing’ space, opened every day from 18:00 to 00:00, with workshops, inflatables and experiences boosted by the Lagos Ciência de Lagos Center on the 26th and 27th. For the most notivagos, the event includes Silent Disco nights at Espaço Cocktail Art, in the early hours of Friday and Saturday.
