It has finally adopted the cuts in public spending of about $ 9 billion in public spending for which the White House and the Doge Commission under its former head, funds intended mainly for international assistance.

The text was adopted by the House of Representatives with 216 votes against 213 against, and can now ratify it before the deadline was exhaled until this evening.

The Doge Committee had identified these cuts for nearly $ 8 billion originally intended for the USAID US Development Service, while the remaining amount was mainly to be made available to the public media NPR and PBS.

The Trump government then asked Congress to recall these funds, which would otherwise have to spend.

“This was voted by the Americans,” Republican MP Tom Emer, one of the main officials of the House of Representatives, said before adopting the text.

Where are the cuts addressed

The cuts were initially involved in the Pepfar world program to combat AIDS, which provided $ 400 million, but moderate Republican senators secured the withdrawal of this section from the text.

The leader of the majority of Republicans in the Senate John Tyun downgraded the impact of these cuts on Wednesday, welcoming them as a first necessary step.

“Here we are talking about 1/10 of 1% of all federal spending,” he told reporters.

“When you have a debt of $ 36,000 billion, you have to do something,” the South Dakota senator added.

In June, the Republican president welcomed his $ 9 billion “intended for a wasteful foreign aid”.

He had also been against the public NPR radio network and the PBS public television network, describing them as “highly biased” against Republicans. The two public media are in danger of losing $ 1.1 billion for them.

The US Constitution predicts that only Congress has the power to grant federal public funds. The text adopted by Congress is the first of one, as presented by the Republicans, a possible series of legislative packages, which codify the costs indicated by Doge and were requested by the White House, although these funds had already been approved by Congress.
