The government of US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he is taking a series of measures against Mexico due to the Mexican government’s decisions to terminate some slots Flight to US airlines and forcing US airlines to relocate operations in Mexico City.
US Transport Secretary Sean Duffy said in a statement that the department could fail Mexico flight requests if the Mexican government does not comply with US concerns about decisions made in 2022 and 2023. The department is also proposing the removal of the Delta Air Lines joint venture antitrust immunity to deal with market competition issues.
Mexico is the most popular international destination among US airline passengers. Delta was not immediately available to comment.
