Venezuela continues to return children separated from families during deportations. On Friday, seven children returned home with the support of government officials.

On Friday, Venezuela repatriated seven children who remained in the US separated from their families after their parents deported Donald Trump’s administration, TASR reports, according to AFP report.

Seven Venezuelan boys and girls were “saved from the kidnapping they were exposed,” said Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello on Friday at the Maiquetia International Airport serving Caracas. Cabello, along with the first lady of Cilia Flores, took over a flight from Houston, which also returned 244 Venezuelans.

Hundreds of people protested last week in Caracas and demanded a return of at least 30 Venezuelan children, which the government claims to remain in the United States after their parents were expelled.

Last month, Parliament’s President Jorge Rodriguez said that the children were “separated from their mothers, fathers, family, grandparents and transferred to institutions where they did not belong”. Cabello said on Friday that the government is working hard “to bring the separated children back to their homeland”. He did not specify when seven repatriated children were separated from their parents. According to official data, more than 8,200 people, including 1,000 children, have been repatriated since February, AFP recalls.
