Luis Inasio Lula described US sanctions as “arbitrarily” against judges in the trial of attempting a coup by far-right former Brazilian President Zaich Bolsonaru (2019-2022) who is backed by Donald Trump.
70 -year -old Zaich Bolsonaro, who is being tried for attempted coup against current leftist President Lula, was forced to wear an electronic bracelet yesterday and, among other things, was banned from accessing social media.
Supreme Court Judge Alexander de Moraes justified these measures by raising him, along with his son Eduardo, to “hostile acts” of the United States against Brazil and that he is trying to “prevent” the in progress in court.
In reaction, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced that visas for the United States of Moraes, all judges based in trial and their close relatives, are being revoked.
These sanctions are an “arbitrary and completely unfounded measure of the United States,” President Lula reported today, according to the Presidency.
“The involvement of one country in another’s judicial system is unacceptable and affects the fundamental principles of respect and sovereignty among nations,” he added.
