Germany, with a player less since the 12th minute, resisted and achieved a victory in the penalty shootout against a France who did not take advantage of his offensive power. The Germans demonstrated resilience in a very physical party, found the attitude that lacked in the group stage and shone their goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger. The Germans return to the semifinals, as in 2022, to face Spain next Wednesday.

Laurent Bonadei played some pieces, and included two powerful players at the ends: Kadidiatou Diani and Delphine Cascarino, escorted in Punta Marie-Antoinette Katoto. On the axis of the rear he aligned Maëlle Lakrar with Mbock Bathy, back after his injury, with the aim of containing a Germany wounded by the overwhelming defeat against Sweden. Christian Wück also surprised Giovanna Hoffman in Punta instead of Lea Schüller, and accompanied by the two great Bazas of Germany, Jules Brand and Klara Bühl.
The plan worked. Hoffmann made Schüller forget: he gave an air up, fought and infected attitude to a German team that resisted and dared more than expected in attack. France, on the other hand, was uncomfortable. He fought unsuccessfully to dominate the center of the field in which the Germans became strong preventing Sakina Karchaoui from appearing and katoto found balls between the lines. The French abused the game by Diani’s band, while Cascarino’s side was more dangerous. To stop them, Germany turned to the faults that throughout the game.
In one of them, after twelve minutes, Hendrich grabbed Mbock inside the area in a corner kick, saw the direct red and granted a penalty that Grace Geyoro transformed. But Germany did not break down, and continued to defend effectively. He had his reward: in a stopped ball play, Nüsken nodded a corner to sign the draw.
The tiredness made a dent in the Germans, who failed a penalty, and began a French siege. The intense struggle between both teams moved to an extension in which Berger was the heroin of Germany avoiding a goal in his own door at a huge stop.
The force was exhausted, and only the penalties remained, where they endured from you to you until France failed after 14 pitches and Berger’s performance was fundamental. The eight -time champion showed experience and beat the applicant, who will continue to be at least for a while.
