The daughter of Minister Luis Roberto Barroso of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) does not live in the United States and, therefore, will not be deported, contrary to what publications circulating on social networks.
According to information available on his LinkedIn, Luna Van Brussel Barroso studied postgraduate at Yale University in New Haven, the US state of Connecticut, between 2022 and 2023. He is currently a doctoral student in Constitutional Law at the University of São Paulo (USP) and a lawyer at Barroso Fontelles, Barcellos, Mendonça Lawyers, created by former STF Minister. According to the office website, she operates at the Rio de Janeiro unit.
Donald Trump’s secretary of state, Marco Rubio, announced on Friday, the immediate revocation of Minister Alexandre de Moraes’s visa, his allies at the Court and direct family members. Publications that circulate on social networks mistakenly state that Luna Barroso will have to leave the United States immediately.

Rubio did not specify who the allies close to Moraes would be, but the Estadão It found that, in addition to the minister himself, the list includes seven other members of the STF: Luís Roberto Barroso, Flávio Dino, Gilmar Mendes, Dias Toffoli, Cristiano Zanin, Carmen Lúcia and Edson Fachin-as well as the Attorney General, Paulo Gonet. The exceptions are André Mendonça, Luiz Fux and Nunes Marques.

Licensed federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) thanked Trump and Rubio for the measure and said the US government will adopt other measures against Moraes and Brazilian authorities.

The Lula government reacted to the revocation of the visas, saying that the interference of one country in another’s justice system is “unacceptable and hurts the basic principles of respect and sovereignty between nations.”
