Three strong earthquakes affected the area off the coast of the eastern part of the Kamchatka Peninsula on Sunday. They also issued a warning against tsunami tsunami, said the American Geological Institute (USGS). TASR informs according to the AFP and AP report.
The first shocks with magnitude 5.0 and 6.7 were not initially caused by the tsunami warning, but followed by the strongest earthquake with magnitude 7.4.
The epicenter of this earthquake was located in the Pacific Ocean 144 kilometers east of the town of Petropavlovsk-Kamčatsky at a depth of 20 kilometers. The USGS has been a warning that, up to 300 kilometers from the epicenter, “possible dangerous tsunami waves” quotes AFP.
