Seizures in Rua 25 de Março commerce rises 20% on 25 – 07/20/2025 – Panel

Attacked by the President of the United States, the walking trade from, at the center of, registered 4,211 seizures from January to May this year, during the City Hall’s inspection actions.

The number is 20% higher compared to the same period in 2024, when 3,502 seizures of goods were recorded.

In these actions, the inspectors have verified whether the street vendors have the authorization necessary to work (the term of permission to use, TPU), not the type of goods they sell. It is up to the public security agencies and the IRS to supervise and analyze the authenticity of products.

According to management (), when inspectors find irregular trade, the goods are seized and taken to a deposit, where it is kept for 30 days so that the owner can withdraw it.

Currently, Rua 25 de Março brings together 72 street vendors with permission to work, and daily surveillance is done by seven teams, with 30 professionals, in addition to the reinforcement of police officers from Operation Delegate.

The region has entered the Trump government’s sights in its commercial investigation against Brazil as one of the main poles of counterfeit products.

To the panel, “the March 25 trade cannot be considered an illegal trade, because it is not. If somewhere there is a sale of counterfeit products, including 25, it is up to the IRS and bodies to combat piracy to oversee and will have, as already, all the city support,” said the mayor on Wednesday (16).
