The case involving a 38 -year -old man who pretended to be a woman to attract married men and film sexual encounters without consent caused shock and outrage in China and several countries.

Identified as Jiao, the suspect became known on networks as “sister Hong” and was arrested last July 9 in the city of Nanjing after weeks of investigation.

How he acted

According to the Nanjing Public Security Department, Jiao wore wigs, makeup, image filters and voice modulation software to present herself as a woman divorced in relationship applications.

With this, he marked encounters with men, usually in his own apartment, and secretly recorded sex.

The filming, made without the victims’ knowledge, were later sold in closed groups on the Internet by about 150 yuan (approximately R $ 116).

The scandal came to light after hundreds of men were exposed on social networks through hollow assemblies and videos, which generated strong public commotion, marital breakups and virtual attacks on the victims.

In some cases, girlfriends and wives from those involved even recorded videos or live broadcasts confronting the partners with the images.

Police, however, denied false information that circulated, such as the number of 1,691 victims, the alleged purposeful infection of HIV and the involvement of a 60 -year -old man.

What can happen

During the meetings, the suspect did not ask for money, but accepted simple gifts such as fruits, milk, oil and even watermelon.

The choice for not requesting direct payments would be linked to the attempt to avoid framing by prostitution, which is still being evaluated by the authorities.

The Department of Public Security reported that Jiao was initially arrested on charges of disseminating obscene material.

According to Chinese legal experts, he may be responsible for up to seven serious crimes, including privacy and pornography violation, and may be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, depending on the amount of material produced and the profit obtained.
