Murilo Couto, Hugo Sousa and Gilmário Viseba – who make up the comedy shades
The humorists Gilmário Vercá, Hugo Sousa and Murilo Couto announced, from Instagram, from Maputo airport, the cancellation of a show in the Mozambican capital, because they were prevented from entering the country.
An Angolan, a Portuguese and a Brazilian tried to enter Mozambique… were prevented.
It seems the beginning of an anecdote, but it really happened, this Sunday – curiously, to Humorists Gilmário Viseba, Hugo Sousa and Murilo Couto.
“Unfortunately we will not be able to make the show,” announced Gilmário Vercába, in a broadcast live on the Instagram social network, from the airport, explaining that the three wait since 14h00 locations (13h00 in Lisbon) by entry into the country, which was “prevented” by the authorities, unaware of the reasons and confirming the cancellation of the show and ticket reimbursement.
Lusa contacted the National Migration Service (Senami) of Mozambique, but did not get any explanation for the alleged retention of humorists at Maputo International Airport.
Source linked to the production of the event explained to Lusa that the show, which had a full house, was from the group, of which the Portuguese humorist Hugo Sousa, Gilmário Verca, based in Portugal, and the Brazilian Murilo Couto.
“Maputo airport has been retained since 2:40 pm [13h40 de Lisboa]after landing on a flight from Luanda, where they were in a show the night before, ”said the same source, adding that the three are accompanied by Agent Pedro Gonçalvesfrom the showtime producer.
Sunday’s show was scheduled for 5 pm local (4 pm in Lisbon) at the China Mozambique Cultural Center in Maputo.
Political motivations?
In a reaction on Facebook, Dinis Tivaneadvisor to the politician and former presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane, who does not recognize the results of the general elections of October 9 in Mozambique, said that Gilmário Verca was “prevented from entering Mozambique, for exposing his opinions”.
On July 8, Venâncio Mondlane and Gilmário Verca publicly shared a meeting in Lisbon, extolling “Anamalala” – which in Macua, spoken in the north of Mozambique, means “It will end” or “it’s over” – And is acronym of the party that Mondlane is trying to legalize: national alliance for a free and autonomous Mozambique (Anamalala).
This expression was widely used by the politician during the campaign for the general elections of October 9, 2024 and became popular in the following months, not recognizing the electoral results that gave Victoria to Daniel Chapo, supported by Frelimo, a party in power.
A alone, Gilmário Verca had already acted in Mozambique in the pastwithout registration of incidents.
Senami explains refusal
This Monday, the director general of Senami Mozambican justified the refusal to the three humorists for trying to enter the country with tourist visawhen they intended to perform a show.
“They came to the country, but did not obey the criteria for which they came. Because they came to give a show, a ‘show’. It is a cultural activity, ”said the director-general, Zainedine Dananequestioned by Lusa.
The official added that the group arrived at Maputo International Airport on Sunday, with the intention of entering the country with tourist visa, which is issued at the border after evaluating migration agents, as provided since 2023 Mozambican legislation.
However, excludes from this type of entry authorization the remunerated activitiesas it says it was detected in the verification of Senami.
Danane added that the promoter of the event in question should “have asked” a credential for the spectacle to the competent Mozambican authoritieswhich would later be used for the request for cultural visa issuance for entry into the country.
“So, having not requested this credential, it is as if this activity did not exist. And how are you going to make a spectacle if you should, maybe, have, are not aware of? I am referring to legal issues,” he said, citing changes to the migration law for the issuance of visas for cultural activities made in 2022.
This accreditation, he said, would fit the Ministry of Culture of Mozambique.
The group, according to Danane, left the country this morning on a TAP flight.
Murilo Couto would be retained in the same
In the case of Brazilian Murilo Couto, the Mozambican migration official revealed that on June 15 he submitted on the electronic platform a business visa request for entry into Mozambique, and three days later were requested missing documents, which was unansweredstressing that even this visa, to be attributed, would not allow him to enter to make the show.
“The citizen did not meet the requirements, nor did he respond to the rejection and is here in Mozambique (…). This has rules. There is no country that you enter without obeying the entry criteria, ”he said, ensuring that there was no“ administrative measure ”in this case, only compliance with the law.
“Neither for business visa, nor for cultural activity, nor for tourism visa, they had requirements. So how were they going to enter the country (…). Everything is on the basis of the law. There is nothing we are inventing. The wheel has already been invented. Can consult the law“, Disse Zainedine Danane.
