Water, mulch and attention: the basics of summer care
The dressing is the most important element of summer care, especially for young trees in the first three years after planting. These “Green Newborn” should be watering 2-3 times a week 10-15 liters of waterif it is not raining. In older trees, deep watering is sufficient once a week during the worst period of drought. The best time for watering is early in the morning or evening when the water does not evaporate so quickly.
A layer of organic mulch around the trunk, eg bark, compost or wood chips, helps to maintain moisture in the soil, prevent weed growth and protect roots from overheating. Ideal is a layer of 5–10 cm, but beware! It must never be drained directly to the trunk to avoid the trunk.
Warning symptoms of insufficient watering include wilting or browning leaves, twisting, yellowing or premature falling. The soil around the tree also often resembles a cracked lunar surface and the root ball is dry to the touch. In this case, the tree calls for help and it is necessary to act quickly, otherwise it threatens permanent damage.
Prevention is the best help
Drought trees are much more susceptible to attacking insects, diseases and subsequent death. Therefore, it is important to pay regular attention to trees during the summer. In addition to the watering will also help gentle fertilization or pruning dry and damaged branches. But really just mild to not suffer from further stress.

Even in the summer you can plant trees, but you need to be extra careful. After planting, the tree should be regularly poured, protected by a mulch and ideally overshadowed against extreme sun. A simple trick can also help: a plastic bucket with holes in the bottom, which slowly releases the water to the roots.
If you are not sure how your trees are, or observe unusual changes, it is appropriate to ask for the advice of the arborist. The expert can evaluate the state of the tree, propose appropriate measures and possibly prevent more damage.
