Brazilian tennis player João Fonseca rose to 47th position in the ATP ranking, published on Monday (21), the best classification of his career.
João has not played since July 4, when he was eliminated from the Wimbledon tournament in the third round by Chilean Nicolas Jarry.
The 18-year-old carioca will return to the court at the Masters 1000 of Toronto (July 27 to August 7), the first major event of the US Tour Tour, which ends with the US Open (August 24 to September 7), the last Grand Slam of the season.
The Canadian tournament will not be attended by the ranking leader, Italian Jannik Sinner, and Serbian Novak Djokovic, current number 6, who gave up participating to “recover after Wimbledon.”
In addition to them, the British Jack Draper (n.5) is also out, due to an injury suffered after the Grand Slam London.
In the top 10, the only change was the rise of the American Ben Shelton for the eighth position, surpassing Norwegian Casper Ruud, who is now number 9.
In turn, Canadian Denis Shapvalov and Kazakh Alexander Bublik, champions over the weekend, returned to the top 30.
Shapvalov won the Los Cabos ATP 250, played on a hard court in Mexico, and now appears 28th on the list. Already Bublik was champion of the ATP 250 of Sassos, played in clay in Sweden, and is the new number 30.
