Let’s start by finding out, What is inulin? For many people, this name sounds mysterious. It is a substance of plant origin – a multi -cauer belonging to the Fruktanów group. Jerusalem artichoke or chicory root, but not only. It is also found, for example, in green bananas or asparagus.
In the version we are talking about today is a powder that can be easily dissolved. Inulin has a slightly sweet, mild taste, there is no smell. How to consume inulin? This is a great addition to porridge or soup, but it also works great in drinks – boldly add it to smoothie or coffee, which we will tell more about in this article.
We have already told ourselves that inulin is a natural prebiotic that can be added, among others for coffee. What are the benefits of such a solution?
The addition of coffee inulin is a recipe for better digestion and healthy intestines. This soluble prebiotic feeds good intestinal bacteria, thanks to which it improves the balance of intestinal microflora, supports peristalsis and prevents constipation. There is also no doubt that regular inulin consumption – for example as a coffee additive – also supports the intestinal barrier, thanks to which the body’s resistance is also improved, and inflammation can be reduced.
Another plus is that inulin can improve blood glucose control. It has a low glycemic index, is safe for people with type 2 diabetes or pre -diabetes. In addition, inulin increases the feeling of satiety, thanks to which it can limit hunger and whims of sweets.
Inulin also increases the absorption of minerals, including Calcium, magnesium and iron, which is particularly important in the elderly.
How to prepare coffee with inulin? Nothing simpler – it takes literally a moment, and the health benefits are huge.
Ingredients:
- Ok 200 ml of your favorite coffee (the one you like to drink every day),
- Milk or vegetable drink (optional),
- A flat teaspoon of inulin powder.
Prepare your favorite coffee – it can be espresso, Americana, and even coffee with milk or vegetable drink. It is important that it is hot, but not boiling – this will allow inulin to dissolve well.
Pour inulin. We offer one teaspoon, but – if you are just starting the adventure with this ingredient – it can be half a teaspoon.
Mix thoroughly with a teaspoon or milk frother.
You can additionally sprinkle coffee with inulin with a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom or bitter cocoa.
