The (Landless Rural Workers Movement) launches this Monday (21) a campaign with the motto “Lula, where’s?”, Directed directly to the President of the Republic.
A letter will also be released in which a relationship between the defense of national sovereignty is made in the context of and the popular and food sovereignty of Brazil.
“The threat to our popular and national sovereignty has also come from within its own country, with the subordination of our agriculture to transnational companies and the actions of the Legislative Power, representative of the interests of agribusiness and mining,” says the letter of the movement.
According to the MST, “Agrarian Reform is an instrument for defending the country’s land, as opposed to the surrender agribusiness, scammer, looter and antipatriotic.” For the landless, “national sovereignty is only possible with food sovereignty.”
Since the beginning of the Lula administration, the entity, which supported its election in 2022, has complained about slowness in the process of land reform and freezing resources for actions such as incentive for family farming and food acquisition.
The MST has reiterated the resignation of the. In the campaign that is starting, the movement says it intends to deal directly with Lula, without intermediaries.
“After more than three years of Lula’s government, land reform is still paralyzed – and the camped and settled families wonder: Lula, where’s agrarian reform?”
According to the movement, there are over 122,000 families camped today in Brazil, and 400,000 settlers who are still waiting for public policies to improve food production and the development of lots.
In the letter that is disclosing, the entity repudiates the bill that flexes environmental licensing rules and was approved by Congress, awaiting sanction or veto of President Lula.
It also stands against a project that is being processed in the House of Representatives and allows police action without court order in occupations in the countryside and in the city.
It also criticizes the maintenance of normative instruction approved in which it facilitates mining and major works in rural settlement projects.
