People in the air, luggage on land: Ryanair flight to this city in Spain 'forget the luggage of all passengers

A Ryanair flight that departed from Bristol, UK Airport, bound for Gran Canaria, Spain, ended with an unwanted surprise for dozens of passengers: neither suitcase boarded. According to The Sun, about 70 luggage was left behind by decision of the airline, which justified the measure with “time restrictions”, associated with a security problem at the origin of the trip.

Among those affected are British tourists who went to the vacation destination to celebrate birthdays and graduations. The FR4757 flight, held on July 18, arrived at its destination without carrying any baggage in the basement, except for a single baby cart. According to the same source, the decision not to take bags was announced on board already during the flight by the commander himself.

Absent communication and medical concerns

Madeline Cooper, 22, one of the passengers, told Somersetlive that there was “zero communication” by the airline, who only indicated passengers to use Ryanair’s official application for information. The young woman expressed concern for older passengers, who do not use smartphones and, therefore, were completely without support.

Another passenger, Sophie Payne, stated that many of the travelers were deprived of essential goods. In his case he was without the inhaler for the asthma, which forced the group to look for a local pharmacy in Gran Canaria. Payne described the experience as “very stressful” and added that many tourists were out of money to get new articles as they were students.

Sunscreen on bags and burns on the skin

Lack of luggage led several passengers to immediately buy hygiene, clothing and medication articles. However, as explained by The Sun, many could not replace all the goods that have lost temporarily. With the solar protectors stored in the soil that were on land, several tourists eventually suffered solar burns.

In social networks the reports of displeasure were multiplied. “Great start of vacation, because Ryanair decided to bring Zero Bristol’s suitcases to Gran Canaria,” wrote one of the passengers. Another user reported that he was “currently in Gran Canaria with zero belongings”, while another warned of the absence of cardiac medication, also retained at the origin airport.

Retrained bags, suspended vacation

The passengers expected to receive the luggage the following night, but according to the testimonies collected, the next day there were no updates of the company. The absence of information forced some tourists to consider a trip to the airport to try to recover their belongings in an attempt to circumvent the absence of official answers.

So far, neither Ryanair nor Bristol Airport has responded to the request for clarification made by what happened. The absence of concrete explanations increases the discomfort among travelers, who continue to wait for the situation to be resolved.
