Preta Gil was diagnosed with cancer in 2023; Singer leaves a son, Francisco Gil, 29 years old
The 50 -year -old singer died on Sunday (20.Jul.2025). The artist had been treating cancer since 2023. He leaves a son, Francisco Gil, 30.
In 2023, Preta Gil was considered healed of a tumor in the gut. In August 2024, he found that cancer had returned in other parts of the body. 2 tumors were found in the lymph nodes, a nodule in the ureter and a metastasis in the peritoneum. At the time, the singer said she was already performing chemotherapy.
In his profile on social networks, Preta also reported that he sought treatment in the United States: ““ The chemotherapy I did there in Brazil, it was not as effective as doctors expected and me too. So, we have to look for alternatives in different countries, with different types of studies, different essays, not yet published or published, drugs that have not yet arrived [ao] Brazil”.
Daughter of Gilberto Gil, Preta Gil was a singer, actress, presenter and businesswoman. Born in Rio de Janeiro, he began his career in music in 2003, with the release of the studio album “Prêt-à-Porter”. The artist released 3 other albums: “Black” (2005), “I am as I am” (2012) e “All colors (2017)”.
