St. John's Balloons or a House in Change? Here's the new Thai architectural project

They look like stacked crates, in a house in change, but idea is to look like balloons from St. John. In the end, they will create a new modern neighborhood in Bangcoque, the capital of Thailand.

Creators say they are inspired by the traditional Thai lanterns (or balloons), but these Hotels really remember a house in change.

O Hatai It is a new project centered on two towers in the neighborhood of Silom, in Bangcoque, Thailand.

Conceived by, the buildings will host Two Hotels.

The forms stacked of buildings are inspired by the traditional Thai lanterns – very identical to our Balloons of St. John.

“We wanted to do something that relate to the country’s heritage in a deeper way and brought details, feelings and stories back to the city,” the studio’s boss and founder, the boss and founder, told the New Atlas, told the boss and founder of the founder, Thomas Heatherwick.

The ground level area around the two buildings is foreseen as a public village and will include a restored channel, an outdoor market space and some kind of high walkways.

Hatai is Heatherwick Studio’s first project in Thailand and its inauguration is scheduled for 2028.
