Strong rains and landslides in South Korea have already claimed 17 victims, evacuated thousands of people

In the South Korean district of Kapchjong, two people died on Sunday as a result of landslide and floods that destroyed houses or cars. The number of victims of heavy rains that plague the country from Wednesday has already risen to 17. Eleven people remain missing, TASR reports according to Reuters report.

The landslide was hit by a camp in Kapchjong, where a middle -aged man died. Two family members are missing and 24 other people have remained stuck, South Korean firefighters said.

According to published shots from the accident site, they managed to save one person using a rope through a stormy river. The helicopter was also called to the rescue events.

South Korea, President of South Korea and Če-Mong, ordered a rapid evaluation of damage and accelerated determination of special zones affected by a disaster in order to increase state support.

For extreme weather, more than 13,000 people had to evacuate in the country. The Government Meteorological Service expects that the rainfall is likely to stop and follow a wave of heat, she said on Sunday.
