Three people died on Sunday in a fire in a ferry off the island of Sulawesi, in the center of Indonesia, and more than 500 passengers were rescued, according to a balance released today.

The fire launched on the boat Km Barcelona 5, off the north coast of the island, while heading to the city of Manado, according to the Indonesian coast guard.

The passengers, with life jackets, jumped to the water and some were rescued by fishermen boats, said the same source.
