Wellens wins 15th tour stage, third Alaphilippe cheered supposed victory

Carcassonne – Tim Wellens won a stage for the first time at the Tour de France. The 34-year-old won the 169.3 kilometer section from Muret to Carcassonne on Sunday and led a Belgian double victory in front of Victor Campenaerts (+1: 28 minutes). The Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe (+1: 36) finished third. The overall and defending champion Tadej Pogacar, like pursuer Jonas Vingegaard and Austria’s figurehead, finished Felix Gall with the main field.
