Naked interior design, almost raw, open and versatile is signed by Jon Gasca and Javier Guerrero. And it is, in reality, a framework for the 21 products that this company Donostiarra sells. Also an echo of its versatility.
They only produce 21 products. In Stua they do not edit furniture, design and manufacture them. They devise Jesus and Jon Gasca, who are father and son, and manufacture them in full, in San Sebastián, since Jesús Gasca and Marina Quevedo founded the firm in 1983. In forty years, they have only taken 21 chairs, tables or sofas to their catalog. All these products remain on sale. What does that want to say? That everyone is still valid, are competitive and that is why they have found a hole in the market.
Stua does not present news, he launches ideas. This is not a firm that marks or follow trends. That is why their products remain over time, because they are not dragged by fashions, or dragging trends, they arrive to offer solutions. That precisely tells your new headquarters.
This company takes care of both the subway and the centimeter. It is seen, for example, in the plastic lining of the packaging of its pieces – which has a rubber, as a shower cap, which allows to recycle the plastic as a case for the furniture during moving or long absences. Something similar happens with the upholstery. In this factory they do not staple, they know, with a string that fresses the skin to the seats and backups.
Also the design of the sofas allows the accumulation of structures optimizing the space of the warehouse and the factory. And the cut, of the woods, is a logistics cut that takes advantage of each rest of the material to manufacture a smaller piece. They are engineers. They dominate efficacy. That is why when it comes to facing a building they have sought that this transmits those values.
Thus, its three -storey headquarters, between a bamboo forest and a stream has both a presentation card and ideology summary. It embodies a dialogue, between nature and manufacturing. And it is, in itself, the sum of three connected volumes.
The automatic warehouse – a plant of 1,000 square meters – is built with metal structure and metal sheet facade. More than a building is a mechanism. The same materials have been used for the factory, which occupies 4,000 square meters, on the lower floor and 3,000 more in the upper.
The face of the set, the office building, is the smallest and yet the most visible. With accoya wooden facade, burned according to tradition SUPPORTINGand concrete structure, in three plants of 1000 square meters – altered to home, office and contract– maintains a dialogue with vegetation from each opening of the showroom And the offices. A large central atrium differentiates these two services, and tends a bridge between bamboo and the outdoors from the outside and the interior monster.
The dialogue at the headquarters does not only occur between building and place. Being a flexible space represents from its walls the versatility of the designs, the 21 products with which they manage to furnish homes, restaurants, museums and complete offices.
