Javier Chicharito Hernández, is being criticized in the networks for playing messages with in a series of motivational videos. For weeks, the Guadalajara Chivas striker has used their social networks to share content more related to the profile of a coach of life than that of a professional athlete, but his most recent video has been especially problematic because he affirms that women “are failing” and that “they have to learn to receive masculinity.”

In his speech, he argues that masculinity is being eradicated because women are “making hypersensitive society.” Although his tone tries to be inspirational, the background of the message has lit alerts for its proximity with conservative ideologies that have gained strength in recent years such as movement redpill and that of the translates. “They are not afraid of being women, to afford to be led by a man who only wants to see them happy. Responsible for their energy is also to love them,” he says in the clip.

In addition, he calls on women “embodying their female energy taking care, nourishing, receiving, multiplying, cleaning, holding the home that is the most precious place for men.” The footballer had already caused negative reactions in previous days by another video in which he also encourages the “then you love a supplier man, but for you clean it is patriarchal oppression … interesting,” he said with irony.

Beyond its football performance, Chicharito’s career has recently been tarnished by his controversies outside the court. Some followers award this bad media streak to their proximity to Diego Dreyfus, an engineer with acting training, turned into guru of self -help, which offers conferences, courses and “therapeutic sessions.” A few years ago, both shared a YouTube channel in which they documented moments of their day to day, but it was eliminated after the separation of the player and Sarah Kohan, who also was part of the project. Meanwhile, Chicharito defends the proximity he has with his mentor and describes him as “someone who has been able to help me had not completely spoiled my career.”

Influencers As Dreyfus and Temach have positioned themselves in Mexico as referents of, although many times what they promote under the pretext of empowering them reproduces misogynist ideas. A report from the Ibero -American University warns that young people radicalized by this type of content have found spaces in forums, Facebook groups and platforms such as Reddit or Telegram, where they are replicated. In extreme cases, these ideologies represent a growing threat, by feeding gender violence and even promoting revenge fantasies against women.
