The wave of heat, which has hit the entire south of Europe, continues to surprise record temperatures. They recorded up to 53 degrees in one city.
On Monday, July 21, the inhabitants of the Serbian town of Čačaku were sweaty when the street thermometer measured 53 degrees. Čačak is a city in Central Serbia, 145 kilometers south of Belgrade.
Meteorologists warn that extreme heat will continue in the coming days, so citizens are advised not to leave their homes unless it is absolutely necessary.
The National Hydrometeorological Institute announced that the heat wave will persist until Saturday, with the most striking in the south and east of Serbia, where the highest daily temperatures are expected from 35 to 40 degrees, and Friday and Saturday (25th and 26 July) locally up to 42 degrees Celsius.
