Occurrences on the postal card of the capital fell from 184 to 59 between March and June of this year, compared to the same period of 2024
Paulista Avenue registered a 67.93% drop in theft between March and June 2025, compared to the same period last year. This year, there were 59 records, against 184 in 2024. Thefts went from 993 to 507, a drop of 48.94%. In total of both crimes, the percentage drop was 51.95%. The data are from the Capital Urban Security Secretariat, provided exclusively to the column. The folder, led by Orlando Morando, attributes the results of the balance to the “Safe São Paulo”, a program in operation on the avenue since March, about to complete 100 days of operation.
The fall was mainly pulled by the decrease in thefts. There were 23 cases this year, against 93 last year, representing 75.27%reduction. Already thefts went from 630 to 313: a drop of 50.32%. Also according to the figures, the region dropped 53.52% in the total number of crimes in June 2025, compared to the same month of the previous year.
According to Morando, the combination of the reinforcement of the Metropolitan Civil Guard with the intensive use of technology through the Sampa program-which operates on site with 52 monitoring cameras, drones, robot dog and mobile base on the capital’s postcard-has enabled the results.
The operation covers about three kilometers long, between Cyclist Square and Oswaldo Cruz Square, with special attention to the areas of greater flow, such as the surroundings of the MASP subway stations, Augusta Street and the Japanese consulate.
