General Marco Antônio Freire Gomes, former Army Commander, sent on Monday (21) in a term of statements in which he reinforces that he cannot say that the former advisor attended a meeting at the Dawn Palace on December 7, 2022, in which the scoring draft was discussed.
According to Freire Gomes, the intention in sending the document to the Supreme Court was to “avoid misinterpretations” about his previous statements about the former advisor previously provided.
He says that at the December 2022 meeting, the then president, the Minister of Defense, General Paulo Sérgio Oliveira, and Admiral Almir Garnier.
At one point, according to the general, a legal advisor entered the room quickly to present a series of “legal consideration” for the alleged draft.
The general states that it was a “brief, punctual passage and without any direct interaction with the other participants of the meeting.” He says he has no memory of who the person is and cannot say that it would be Martins.
Freire Gomes also states that, in his statement given in March 2024 to the Federal Police on the case, the record that “possibly” would be Martins does not mean confirmation of the presence of the former advisor.
“When I was questioned [pela PF] About the identity of the advisor, I made it clearly registered that I could not say who it was. I did not recognize this person as Filipe Martins, “he said.
“So much so that the term of the testimony has stated the expression ‘possibly’, with no categorical or positive statement in this sense. It is a remote possibility, not a safe or affirmative identification,” he added.
Martins is accused of helping to write the scam draft. He denies, however, and
“I reaffirm that I did not know Filipe Martins, I did not attend meetings with him, I had no functional or institutional relationship with him, and I cannot say that the person who quickly entered and left the meeting of December 7, 2022 is Filipe Martins,” concludes the general.
