«Ήταν καθήκον μου»: Η απάντηση του Φειδιά για τη συνέντευξη με Τατάρ

Reactions continue to provoke his interview with him, with the Cypriot MEP giving explanations through a new video he uploaded to X.

His choice to talk to the leader of the pseudo -state has caused strong criticism, which he is now trying to refute.

He states that his goal was to respond to those who made him “Cancel” for an interview that, he claims, did “good” in his home country.

The interview was held in the occupied territories, with Pheidias arguing that, through it, he attempted to achieve something that “has not managed to do so for 51 years of Turkish occupation”.

In the video, he briefly presents the history of the Cyprus issue, starting with the Ottoman period and ending in the Turkish invasion of 1974, which he attaches to the coup against Makarios.

Referring to the interview with Tatar, he says: “It was my duty to sit down to talk to Tatar, because I believe that the problem should be resolved with diplomacy no matter how radically I can disagree with him. It is problematic not to talk to people we disagree with. “

He also clarifies that “he does not recognize Ersin Tatar as a president, I just went to talk to him. And my disagreements were evident from those who heard the interview. “

Concluding his position, he stresses that he believes that this interview has contributed positively: “It was very useful for Cyprus that I did this podcast because the Cyprus issue would be resolved with diplomacy and understanding. It is time to open an immediate debate between the two sides, “he says.
