Among the sectors, services led job creation, with 205,477 new vacancies, followed by the transformation industry (75,340) and construction (74,475).
The trade sector, however, registered a negative balance of -6.137 jobs, reflecting the effects of the slowdown in consumption in the first months of the year.

Currently, Brazil has 23.2 million active companies. Of this total, 21.7 million are micro, small and medium, of which 12.5 million are MEIs (individual microentrepreneurs).
São Paulo is the state with the most micro, small and medium companies. There are 6.2 million. Then comes Minas Gerais, with 2.3 million. Rio de Janeiro is in 3rd place, with 1.8 million.
The most common segment between micro, small and medium enterprises is the retail trade of clothing and accessories, with over 1,002,551 companies. Next comes the beauty and aesthetics segment, with 867,465. In 3rd position is the Sales Promotion area, with 699,416.
Default
As for the default of micro and small businesses, the number has been growing by 2025. In January, there were 6.66 million overdue companies. This number was 7.12 million in April. High of 7% between the 1st and 4th month of the year.
The service sector concentrates most delinquent companies, representing 54.1% of the total in April. Trade accounts for 35.9% and the industry, 8.2%.
From January to April, micro and small businesses registered 479 requests for judicial recovery. Although the number is slightly less than the record of 486 requests in 2024, it still represents almost double the one registered in 2023 (245) and 3 times more than 2022 (160).
