The Ministry of Agrarian Development countered on Monday (21) agility in land reform.

“Contrary to what the letter from, land reform in Brazil has resumed the rhythm of President Lula’s first two governments,” says the folder commanded by Minister Paulo Teixeira.

As the panel anticipated, the landless movement decided to start a campaign to charge Lula on the subject, making a connection between national sovereignty, which was being threatened by Donald Trump, and the concept of food sovereignty. The “journey” motto, as the MST states, is “Lula, where’s?”

According to the ministry, in 2025 were obtained and available 13,944 new lots for settlements, a number comparable to those of the first two Lula governments. By the end of the year, all benefited families are expected to be approved in their properties.

The folder also says that since 2023 17,297 lots have been obtained and R $ 1.1 billion spent on the acquisition of land.

“The goal is to create 30,000 new lots still in 2025 and 60 thousand by the end of the term, which represents half of all 120 thousand families camped throughout Brazil,” he says.

The ministry also states that criticism of the alleged lack of resources for agrarian reform programs is not justified.

According to government data, the food acquisition program jumped from $ 90,000 by 2022 to $ 1.2 billion, while Pronaf resources grew 47%.

“We respect the role of social movements to claim but the truth is that the Lula administration is going to beat historical records in land reform,” the ministry says.
