The Minister of Investment, Regional Development and Computerization of the Slovak Republic Samuel Migaľ (independent) underwent a seven -hour cardiac surgery in the East Slovak Institute of Cardiac and Vascular Diseases (VÚSCH) in Košice. The demanding operation was carried out in a standard way. Informed the management of VÚSCH and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Investment Radomír Šalitroš, who will represent Migaľa in the next few days in the management of the ministry. He added that the operation was supposed to last 7 hours.
Migaľ is currently at the clinic of anesthesiology and intensive care where undergoes postoperative care. “It is intensively monitored to be able to intervene if necessary,” The CEO of VÚSCH Štefan Lukačín said.
The surgery was the reimplantation of the aortic valve. “The Minister remained his own valve, which is repaired, and the aorta that is around the valve was exchanged for a vascular prosthesis, so it is a demanding performance,” said Adrián Kolesár, head of the Heart Surgery Clinic. According to him, the operation occurred in accelerated mode due to the significant dynamics of the aorta expansion.
Salitroš thanked the Institute for surgery and medical care and assured that the ministry is fully under control. “I have taken the power of attorney for those few days from the Minister. All three state secretaries are currently without holidays and we are working as we have been working as standard so far,” he said, adding that the coming days will come to Košice from Bratislava.
