Measure was granted after action by the São Paulo State Official Teachers Union (Apeoesp); Tarcísio intended to hire 208 military police officers, who would teach in Civic-Militar schools
O announced that it will appeal the court decision that suspended last Friday (18), in an injunction, the selection of 208 to act as monitors in the state public school system. The measure, which can delay the beginning of classes in the civic-military model foreseen for the second half, complied with a request from the union of the category. The São Paulo court upheld the union’s argument that the selection was being held without a public tender, only through interviews and other criteria. The state government, through the Secretariat of Education, defended the process, stating that the initiative “respects the right to choose families and the school community”, which would have manifested favorably to join the model.
The folder stressed that the objective of the program is to “expand school management options” and ensure safe and quality learning for students. According to the project, military police would not work in the curriculum, but in activities such as security and organization of school routine.
Even before the suspension, the schedule already provided for a late start of police in the units due to previous delays in the notice. With the new court decision, the impasse may further compromise the beginning of activities in schools that opted for the civic-military regime.
