This Tuesday (23), at 11:59 pm, the deadline granted by Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court (STF), for the defense of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) imposed on him last week.
The Order of Moraes, published on Monday (22), determines that lawyers “provide clarification within 24 hours, under penalty of immediate decree of the defendant’s arrest”.
The warning was motivated by the release of videos and links from recent interviews granted by Bolsonaro to the press – an action that, according to the minister, violates the prohibition of use of social networks, directly or indirectly.

On Monday afternoon, a few hours after the warning of Moraes, Bolsonaro visited the Chamber of Deputies and (18).
The image was recorded by journalists and widely shared on social networks, including profiles of supporters and press vehicles.
Although the court decision prohibits the plaintiff of the former president on the networks, Bolsonaro said, in front of the cameras: “I did not steal the public coffers, I did not divert public appeal, I did not kill anyone. Although Moraes has established 24 hours to manifest the defense, the Code of Criminal Procedure provides for counting on business days, from the formal subpoena, which may occur via electronic or telegram system.
As the decision did not detail the moment of subpoena or adopted a specific rule of civil legislation, the predominant understanding is that the deadline is until 11:59 pm on Tuesday.

The precautionary measures were imposed on the investigation that investigates the performance of Bolsonaro and his son, Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), to influence the United States government to retaliate Brazil.

According to the Federal Police, the two would have articulated, with President Donald Trump, the adoption of sanctions against STF ministers and Brazilian institutions.
The conduct, according to Moraes, constitutes evidence of crimes such as coercion in the course of the process, obstruction of justice and attack on national sovereignty.
